Australia-wheel adventure travel "Fraser Iceland"

Australia-wheel adventure travel "Fraser Iceland"

Our Australia-wheel adventure tour started in Brisbane with the rental of a suitable four-wheel drive vehicle, which is also for Fraser Iceland, the largest sand island in the world released. The island has only dirt roads and no paved roads, thus you need a vehicle with 4-wheel drive. The island is virtually the beginning of the southern Great Barrier Reef. We drove about 5 hours to Highway No.. 1 north to Rainbow Beach and sat on the afternoon of Inskip Point with a small car ferry on the beach over to Hook Point, virtually the southernmost point of the island. Most ferries leave from Hervey Bay, which is also world famous for its whale watching in the Bay before.

We decided to drive directly to the beautiful Kingfisher Bay Resort as the first, from where we started our journey to the island-wheel experience. The resort is characterized by its high ecological and luxurious standard and won many awards, such as Best Beach Resort Australia, not without reason. It fits seamlessly into the landscape, and many parts of the resort are connected by bridges. One moves practically in the middle of nature and it happens sometimes that one has an encounter with a dingo. This cheeky and playful companions belong to a population of about 200 on the island, there are wild animals and feeding of these is strictly prohibited. We even had the good fortune to meet a puppy in front of our bungalow, it was very hard not to want to take this same.

A special focus at this point should be placed on the guided night walks at the resort. For all sports enthusiasts, there are guided canoe trips along the coast. The resort restaurant "Seabelle" offers a fine dining experience in a class and also won many awards. You get served the delicacies of the Australian bush and local seafood. Whether you're exploring from here or his own way even joins one of the ranger guided interpretive tours, depending on taste.

My tip: Enjoy your cocktail on the boat jetty at an atmospheric sunset and admire the Südsternenhimmel in all its glory.

Fraser Iceland is a National Park, since 1992 a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is an exciting destination for an Australia-wheel travel experience. The Aboriginal name is K'gari, which means something like "paradise" means. Archaeologists have found that the island was probably inhabited the last 5000 years and more of the tribe of Aborigines Butchulla. The whole island is covered with lush and unique subtropical flora and fauna, large migrating dunes are interspersed with ancient rainforest and over 100 freshwater lakes are havens for a variety of animals. There are about 40 different species of mammals on the island, these include opossums, wild horses, bats, etc. The number of reptiles and insects should not know better.

By the elements Fraser Iceland is in constant motion. Many of the dunes (often over 230 m high) is slowly devouring trees and give ancient tribes again. In the middle of the island, where the wind blows not as strong, a rain forest formed over approximately the last 700,000 years practically on the sand. This is so unique in the world in its form. Majestic eucalyptus trees engulfed fight between vines and giant ferns around every ray of light. Under this canopy of leaves and the typical sounds of the birds and insects around us, we felt transported to another world.

The small sandy slopes led us to our four-wheel adventure trip to the most beautiful places that Australia has to offer. We have also met many camping trips, the participants assured us that it would be typically Australian, for Fraser Iceland in this way. Even the campsites were well equipped, they reported. The camping permit you get from the "Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service" and should be obtained prior to arrival. We also took advantage of the public barbecue areas of the island and enjoyed a typical Australian "Barbeque" with delicious steaks and a fresh beer there - of course, not the driver, because here there are strict controls on the police.

One of the highlights during our four-wheel adventure travel is certainly the 125 km long and 500 m wide, often called 75 Mile Beach, at the same time the highway no. 1 and airstrip, just stunning. At this beach along is a great place to take breaks, eg, crystal clear Eli Creek. One can in this fresh water flow through the flow drift towards the sea and thus experienced a slowdown in the almost perfect year-round subtropical temperatures. Another landmark is the wreck of the SS Maheno. It was stranded after a cyclone in 1935 and is now a popular destination represents and is by far not the only wreck the region.

The sandstone formations along the coast are wonderful photo opportunities, they light up depending on the sun in beautiful red to yellow. We had the good fortune to meet already in passing in the surf a lot of marine life. We can see huge whales, turtles, sharks and dolphins from the beach wonderful. In a four-wheel adventure travel on east beach is endless, however, should not be forgotten during the route, the Tides and plan his day's route accordingly. On the slopes in the interior of the island to get in an hour ahead about 20 km and the beach about 50 km. Even riders need a driving permit before arrival of the "Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service."

Bird lovers come on Fraser Iceland particular will enjoy - because the island has about 354 different kinds to offer. Very impressive, we found the great acting and proud eagle. And cackling awakened every morning we were called the "Laughing John", also called "Kookaburra."

Even the beach fishing is world famous. The necessary equipment and bait it is obtained in the small shops on the island, most of which are connected to hotels. Swimming at the 75 Mile Beach but should be avoided because there is a strong undercurrent there and sharks can not always differentiate between man and food.

A great alternative in combination with a four-wheel adventure travel is to get to know on a flight with a small passenger plane the island. This starts at the beach and you can fly for about half an hour about the fascinating landscape. Of this stunning bird's eye view of can the many freshwater lakes Fraser Islands, which are framed by the lush rainforest and surrounded by golden beaches, marvel very good. Similarly, the nearest the mainland side of the island with its endless mangrove belt looks particularly intriguing from above. The flights over Fraser Iceland can book at any hotel on the island (the cost of the flight are quite affordable), or meet the friendly pilots directly at Eurong Beach Resort. Also, the bars and restaurants in the hotel are highly recommended.

Another landmark is discovered by Captain Cook's Endeavour and its headland Indian Head, named after the indigenous people that he could make out on the rock. After a short climb you have a wonderful 360 ° view over the island. From here you can observe manta rays, sharks, dolphins and whales also excellent little further away. Particularly humpback whales and sperm whales from July to October guests frequently between the mainland and Fraser Iceland. Not far away you will find the champagne pools. In these separated from the sea at low tide sandy rock pools it can swim beautifully and without sharks. However, one should not forget the slippers because the rocks can be very sharp and slippery.

A visit Lake McKenzie or any of the other lakes is a "must" for every four-wheel adventure travel to Fraser Iceland. There are over 90 km of hiking trails on the island and some lead to this lake. The sand is so fine that it squeaks when walking barefoot between the feet. We also snorkeled and found the clear water with about 15 m visibility on the ground just beautiful. A refreshing dip in the crystal clear water makes you forget all worries. A truly magical place for you certainly should schedule time.

My travel Conclusion: I have a four-wheel Fraser Iceland travel experience enjoyed to the fullest and find that it has to offer something for every taste. In the first place, of course, is the charming nature, combined with a wide range of sports facilities and a sense of adventure, whether in simple tent or in the stylish hotel. I felt my stay of 4 days perfectly, although I would have liked to stay longer at the end. I have long not yet explored everything and I look forward to seeing you again today.

This unique paradise is truly one of the icing on the cake of any trip to Australia .
